🍠 Why air fryer frozen sweet potato fries?
I love making homemade sweet potato fries, but sometimes I need to get supper on the table fast. These fries are an excellent option for a side dish.
It's very convenient to have some frozen food in the freezer, and a lot of frozen vegetables are healthy. They get picked and frozen at their peak, so they taste better than fresh produce. And frozen vegetables are usually cheaper than fresh ones.
Instead of always buying fresh produce, it's okay to cook with frozen foods. You can freeze fruits and vegetables, then use them later. Our freezer is stocked with frozen fruits and vegetables to last the year! Check out How To Blanch and Freeze Peas so you can do it yourself!
♨️ Why use an air fryer?
Air fryers are a healthy alternative to deep-fat frying that provides great-tasting food without fat and calories. Air fryers work by circulating hot air around the food, so they're perfect for cooking sweet potatoes fries without the addition of oil. It may take a little longer than deep-frying, but sweet potato fries will come out crispy on the outside and sweet and soft on the inside.
🍠 Ingredients
These crunchy and colorful frozen sweet potato fries are so easy to make and super delicious!

- Sweet potatoes: I purchased frozen sweet potato fries, unseasoned.
- Sea salt: I like to sprinkle some sea salt on the fries after they are fully cooked.

⏲️ How to cook frozen sweet potato fries in air fryer
First of all, preheat the air fryer temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Open the bag of frozen fries and place them in the basket of your air fryer.

Next, set the cooking time for 10 minutes, then when the time is up, shake the basket. Set the timer for ten more minutes. Check the fries periodically to make sure they do not overcook.
In my Cosori air fryer, the sweet potato fries were cooked to ultimate crispness after 20 minutes. However, in my Ninja Foodi Air Fryer, I cooked them for a total of 28 minutes before I reached the desired crispness.
Please note that all air fryers do not cook the same, so you may need to adjust the cooking time for your air fryer.
That's it! Serve with your favorite dipping sauce!
I hope you enjoy these fries as much as we do!
Hint: Since sweet potato fries are best eaten when they're sizzling, always make sure that you serve them piping hot, just don't burn your mouth.

🧂 How to serve sweet potato fries
Once your fries are cooked to perfect crispness, enjoy with your favorite seasoning and dipping sauce. Some tasty ones to try are:
- Sprinkle with a bit of sea salt
- A mixture of honey and brown sugar
- Warm honey mustard sauce
- Ketchup
- When you remove the fries from the air fryer basket, drizzle with a little honey or maple syrup
- Top with sesame seeds
- Add chives
- Make it healthier by adding avocado slices on top or guacamole
- Top with bacon bits and sour cream
- Top with Homemade Salsa
- Use ranch dressing as a dip
- Serve with dill dip
- Spice things up by adding in some cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or chili powder!
- Coat the sweet potatoes with spices like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, or thyme after air frying them for great flavor!
🍽 Equipment
To make sweet potato fries from frozen, you need an air fryer. The one I used for this recipe was the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer. It has an 8 qt capacity with two baskets, making it easy to cook enough food to feed my family in no time! I highly recommend it!
I also have an Instant Pot Vortex Air Fryer. It was very reasonably priced and has a large basket as well.
🌡️ Storage
To enjoy sweet potato fries after they've cooled down, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing after they are cooked; they would get mushy in the freezer.
💭 Top tips
There are a few things to pay attention to if you're using an air fryer for sweet potato fries from frozen.
- Place the sweet potatoe fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. This ensures that all of them will come out crispy and golden brown as they should. To make sure that this happens, stir them about halfway through cooking time. The sweet potatoes should take about 20 minutes in the air fryer, but it depends on the size of each sweet potato and how your air fryer cooks.
- Make sure to shake the basket halfway through the cooking time.
- Consequently, all air fryers are not equal. If your fries are not crispy enough, put them back in for another minute or two.
