Why we love this sauce
- No cooking required. Just stir everything in one bowl, and you're done.
- Big flavor, tiny effort. It's creamy, tangy, and herby without spending more than 5 minutes in the kitchen.
- Goes with almost anything. Spoon it on smoked salmon, swipe it on sandwiches, dunk fries right in, or drizzle it on salads.
- Make-ahead friendly. Mix it up the night before or in the morning, and the flavors will be even better by dinner.
- Better than store-bought. Once you taste it, the bottled stuff doesn't even compare.

Dill Mayo Sauce Ingredients
- Sour cream: This gives the sauce its creamy base. You can also use plain Greek yogurt.
- Mayo: Use mayonnaise for classic flavor or Miracle Whip for a tangier version. You can also use avocado mayo.
- Dill: I used dried dill because that's what I had on hand. But if I have fresh dill, I will use that instead. If using fresh, double the amount as the flavor is less concentrated.
- Lemon juice: A splash of lemon juice brightens the flavor. Use fresh lemon juice if you have it.
- Salt and pepper: A simple seasoning is all you need to enhance the flavors. Start light and adjust to taste.
How to Make Dill Mayo Sauce
Mix the base. In a small bowl, whisk or stir together the sour cream, mayonnaise, dried dill, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
Season it. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper, then taste and adjust to your liking.
Chill and serve. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let the flavors meld. Serve as a dip, spread, or drizzle for all your favorite meals.

Variations
Use fresh dill: If you have fresh dill, double the amount for even fresher flavor.
Add garlic: A little minced garlic or a pinch of garlic powder.
Make it spicy: Stir in a few red pepper flakes.
Try lime instead of lemon: Lime juice adds a slightly sweeter citrus flavor that pairs well with seafood or tacos.
Tips for Making Creamy Dill Sauce
- Chill it before serving so the flavors have a chance to meld. About an hour is perfect.
- Taste and season lightly at first, then add more salt and pepper if needed.
- Add a bit of milk to make it thinner to use as a salad dressing.
- Make a double batch for parties or BBQs, this sauce tends to disappear fast!
How to Store Dill Mayo Sauce
This dill sauce tastes best when made the same day, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
