This cottage cheese smoothie is my latest obsession. It has a super creamy texture, like milkshake-level creamy, tastes like cheesecake, and takes only 5 minutes to make. I know, cottage cheese in a smoothie sounds weird, but I think it's the best thing ever.
I don't know about you, but I always found protein powders left a strange aftertaste. With this smoothie, you get all the protein AND a delicious flavor. It's perfect for those mornings when you're running late or when you need a quick snack that'll actually fill you up.

Ingredients You'll Need
- Cottage Cheese: I used 2% milk-fat cottage cheese, but you can use full-fat cottage cheese for the creamiest texture.
- Mixed Berries: Use whatever kind of frozen fruit you have. I used a combination of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. If using fresh berries, add a handful of ice cubes to thicken.
- Banana: Adds natural sweetness. For an extra thick smoothie, use a frozen banana.
- Milk: Use your favorite type - dairy, almond, oat, or coconut - they all work well.
- Honey: For a touch of sweetness. Adjust to taste or use maple syrup, agave syrup, or your favorite sweetener.
- Vanilla Extract: Adds an extra pop of flavor.

- Extra Protein: Add Greek yogurt or a scoop of vanilla protein powder for even more protein.
- Green smoothie: Add a handful of spinach or kale.
- Dairy-free: Use a dairy-free cottage cheese alternative and plant-based milk to make this smoothie dairy-free and vegan-friendly.
- Fiber: Add a tablespoon of chia seeds or ground flaxseed for extra fiber.
- Smoothie Bowl: This smoothie is so thick you can make a smoothie bowl instead and top it with your favorite toppings!
How to store leftover smoothie
This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh. However, if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container or mason jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Give it a good shake or a quick blend before drinking.
Serving Suggestions

- Garnish with fresh berries and a mint sprig.
- Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for a healthy frozen treat.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Yes, cottage cheese tastes great in smoothies! It has a mild flavor that takes on the flavors of other ingredients and is super creamy.
You can use full-fat (4%), reduced-fat (2%), or low-fat (1%) cottage cheese.
The main difference is that a cottage cheese smoothie is higher in protein and has a slightly thicker, creamier consistency than regular fruit smoothies. The cottage cheese also adds a tangy flavor that pairs well with the sweetness of fruit.
