Watermelon Banana Smoothie Recipe
- Quick and easy: It's made with simple ingredients and ready in less than 5 minutes.
- Kid-Friendly: They love the refreshing fruit and watermelon flavor!
- Naturally Sweet: No refined sugar added.
- Healthy Snack: It's full of healthy ingredients and is the perfect afternoon snack!
- Thick or thin: I love a thick smoothie; sometimes, I even add extra watermelon to make it thicker. But it can easily be thinned out.
Watermelon Smoothie Ingredients
- Watermelon: Use frozen watermelon cubes for the thickest smoothie.
- Strawberries: Use fresh or frozen.
- Banana: Use a ripe banana for natural sweetness.
- Milk: I used unsweetened almond milk, but any milk works - dairy, non-dairy, oat, soy, or coconut milk.
- Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed is best.
- Honey: Optional, but adds extra sweetness, especially if your fruit is not super sweet.
- Mint: Fresh mint leaves for garnish.

Step 1
Prepare Ingredients: If you don't have frozen watermelon chunks, chop up a fresh seedless watermelon into 1-inch cubes, place in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and freeze for 2 hours. Transfer the frozen watermelon to a freezer bag.
Step 2
Blend: Combine the frozen watermelon cubes, strawberries, banana, milk, honey, and lime juice in a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Step 3
Serve: Pour into glasses, garnish with fresh mint leaves, and enjoy!
Variations and Add-Ins
- Add Greens: Toss in a handful of spinach or kale for a green smoothie.
- Boost with Protein: Add a scoop of your favorite protein powder, chia seeds, or Greek yogurt.
- Make it Tropical: Add pineapple or mango for a tropical flavor.
- Herbal Hint: Swap mint with basil for a different flavor.
Storing and Serving Tips
Make Ahead: Put all of the ingredients in a freezer bag and freeze. Then, dump the contents into a blender and blend. Perfect for a quick breakfast on busy mornings!
Freezing: Pour the leftover smoothie into ice cube trays and freeze. Later, blend the cubes with a bit of milk for a quick drink.

You can use agave nectar or maple syrup instead, or skip it if your fruit is naturally sweet enough.
It can be! Use non-dairy milk, such as almond, oat, or soy, or use coconut water or fruit juice.
Absolutely! Adding yogurt will make the smoothie creamier and add protein.
