🍓 Ingredient Notes
When making this romantic dessert, high-quality ingredients are key, and can easily be found at your local grocery store.

- Strawberries. The most important ingredient is fresh, ripe strawberries. They should be firm and have a bright red color. They should also be free of blemishes or soft spots.
- Chocolate. For best results, use high-quality melting chocolate or baking bars. I love dark chocolate, so I used dark chocolate melting wafers. Make sure to use chocolate with at least 60% cocoa content to get a rich flavor. I also used white melting wafers, but you could also use white baking chocolate. Feel free to use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate as well. You can also use colored candy melts instead of chocolate if desired. However, I don't recommend using semi-sweet chocolate chips as you won't get as thick of a chocolate coating.

🥣 How To Make Valentines Chocolate Covered Strawberries
First, wash the strawberries with cold water. Dry strawberries extremely well with a paper towel. Make sure to lift up the leaves and dry them underneath. Place them on a wax paper or parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Pro Tip: Remove any moisture so the chocolate will stick better. You can let them air dry for a bit as well to make sure they are really dry.
Prepare toppings, if desired (nuts, toasted coconut, etc.), and set aside in separate bowls for later.
Place the chopped dark chocolate and white chocolate melts into two heat-safe glass bowls. Place a bowl over a double boiler and melt the chocolate wafers until completely smooth, stirring constantly. You can also use the microwave to melt the chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring in between intervals until melted and smooth.
Pro Tip: If you don't have a double boiler, you can make your own. You will need a saucepan and a glass or metal bowl that fits snugly inside the saucepan. Fill the saucepan with an inch or two of water and bring it to a gentle boil. Place the glass or metal bowl over the top of the pot, making sure that it is resting on top of the saucepan and not touching the boiling water. You can then add the chocolate to the bowl and whisk until smooth and melted.

Now is the time for the fun part. Holding the strawberry by the stem end, dip your strawberries into the melted chocolate, gently turning it to coat the entire berry. Let any excess chocolate drip off. Place the strawberry onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.

Repeat the steps with the remaining strawberries. Alternate between dark chocolate and white chocolate.
If desired, sprinkle with desired toppings while the chocolate is still wet. If you wait too long, the chocolate will harden and the toppings will not stick.

Drizzle extra melted chocolate over the tops of the berries after the chocolate has cooled and hardened, if desired. Use a piping bag with a small round tip if you want it to look perfect.

Refrigerate for 15 minutes on the sheet pan or until set before serving.
Enjoy!

🍫 Variations
Here are some variations for chocolate-dipped strawberries:
- Nutella Covered Strawberries: Dip the dried strawberries in melted Nutella instead of traditional chocolate.
- Sprinkle-Topped Strawberries: Roll the strawberries in colorful sprinkles or crushed nuts after they are dipped in melted chocolate.
- White Chocolate Covered Strawberries: For a sweeter treat, dip the strawberries in white chocolate instead of milk or dark chocolate.
- Swirled Strawberries: Swirl two colors of melted chocolate together before dipping the strawberries to make a beautiful pattern.
- Bright Pink Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries: Use bright pink chocolate melts for dipping. Use the leftover melted bright pink chocolate as a drizzle over white chocolate or dark chocolate as a contrast.
