Chocolate Covered Strawberries Ingredients
A complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the printable recipe card below.
- Strawberries. The star of this recipe! Choose fresh, large strawberries. Grocery stores often stock long-stemmed strawberries around Valentine’s Day, perfect for dipping.
- Chocolate. Use high-quality melting chocolate or baking bars. Dark chocolate, white chocolate, or even milk chocolate works great. For this recipe, I used dark chocolate melting wafers and white melting wafers. Avoid semi-sweet chocolate chips as they don’t provide a thick coating.

For more detailed instructions with measurements, jump to the recipe card.

- Step 1: Prepare the Strawberries. Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries, including under the leaves. Let them air dry to ensure they are completely dry before dipping.

- Step 2: Melt the Chocolate. Place chopped dark chocolate and white chocolate melts into heat-safe glass bowls. Melt using a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring constantly until smooth. See below for more detailed instructions on how to do this.

- Step 3: Dip the Strawberries. Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly. Let excess chocolate drip off and place on a wax paper-lined baking sheet.

- Step 4: Add Toppings. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with toppings if desired. Alternate between dark and white chocolate for variety.

- Step 5: Drizzle. Using a piping bag with a small round tip, drizzle extra melted chocolate over the tops of the berries.

- Step 6: Set: Refrigerate for 15 minutes on a sheet pan or until set before serving. Enjoy!
