🍫 Ingredient Notes
This sweet treat is made with simple ingredients you can easily find at your local grocery store!

- Heavy cream. This creamy mousse uses heavy whipping cream. If you prefer a vegan option, you can use coconut cream instead.
- Low-carb sweetener. I used a powdered sweetener which is a 1:1 sugar replacement. If you use a sweetener like Stevia that is 2x sweeter than sugar, use half the sweetener the recipe calls for.
- Cocoa. I used unsweetened dark cocoa powder.

🥣 Step-By-Step Instructions
First, take out a large mixing bowl and add the cold whipping cream. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the cold cream on medium-high speed for about 1-2 minutes. You want to mix it until stiff peaks begin to form.
Tip: Reserve a tablespoon for each serving if desired.

Next, add the cocoa and your sweetener of choice to the whipped cream mixture. Mix together with an electric mixer until all ingredients are combined.

Transfer the mousse mixture into individual glasses or dishes and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. I know - the hardest part is waiting that long! TBH, sometimes I can't wait and dig right in! 😉
As an optional garnish, top with fresh berries, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings for extra flavor.
Enjoy!

📋 What Are The Best Keto Sweeteners?
When it comes to finding the right sweetener for a keto diet, there are several options to choose from.
Some of the most popular choices are natural sweeteners like erythritol, monk fruit, and Stevia. Many products combine these sweeteners.
One thing to watch for is how sweet they are compared to sugar. Liquid Stevia and Truvia, for example, are much sweeter than sugar, so you need to convert how much sweetener to use.
Lowcarbyum.com has a great conversion calculator at the bottom of their post that converts how much sweetener to use if converting from sugar. You may find their calculator helpful.

❓ Recipe FAQs
The reason your chocolate mousse may not be fluffy is that you didn't whip the heavy cream until it formed stiff peaks. If the cream isn't whipped enough, it will not be light and fluffy.
Yes, chocolate mousse can be kept overnight in the refrigerator. All you have to do is cover it tightly with plastic wrap.
Cover the dish with plastic wrap or a lid and place it in the refrigerator. If possible, I would suggest storing the mousse in individual cups or ramekins. That way, you can easily take out what you need without messing up the entire dish. It will keep in the fridge for up to two days. After that, it may start to lose its texture and consistency and may start to get runny.
Yes, you can freeze chocolate mousse. Place it in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. It will keep in the freezer for up to two months. When ready to serve again, thaw the mousse overnight in the refrigerator.
While chocolate mousse is a delicious treat, it is not necessarily considered a healthy option. Heavy cream is high in calories, fat, and saturated fat so it is best enjoyed in moderation.
