- Dulce de leche, also known as caramelized milk, milk candy, or milk jam, is popular in Latin America and is made by slowly heating sugar and milk. You can find a premade can in the baking aisle of your local grocery store next to sweetened condensed milk, or make homemade dulce de leche.
- Heavy cream. Heavy whipping cream is used to get that light and airy texture. You can also use double cream.
- Optional toppings: A pinch of sea salt, chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, or whipped cream.

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Whip the heavy whipping cream in a large bowl with an electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form. You can also place it in the bowl of a stand mixer and use the whisk attachment. Add the vanilla extract and whip until stiff peaks form.


Step 2: Add a can of dulce de leche to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Then add a cup of whipped cream and blend the mixture using a hand mixer on low to medium speed. Gradually add another cup of whipped cream to the mixture. Add the dulce de leche mixture to the whipped cream mixture and gently combine until you have a smooth consistency.


Step 3: Spoon the dulce de leche mousse into individual bowls, dessert cups, or individual ramekins. Place in the fridge for at least 1-2 hours to set.

Ingredients

- 1 can dulce de leche 13.4 ounces or 300 mL
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅛ teaspoon sea salt optional

Instructions
- In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until it forms soft peaks. Add the vanilla extract and whip until stiff peaks form.
- In a separate bowl, add the can of dulce de leche and a spoonful of whipping cream. Mix on low speed until blended. Add another scoop of whipped cream and mix until blended.
