Ninja Creami Coffee Ice Cream
- Deep coffee flavor, thanks to instant espresso or coffee granules.
- Rich and creamy texture, without cream cheese or fillers.
- Serve in affogatos, milkshakes, or ice cream sandwiches.
- Made from scratch with real, simple ingredients.
- Easy to customize and even easier to love.
Ingredients for Ninja Creami Coffee Ice Cream

To make this Ninja CREAMi frozen treat, you just need five basic ingredients.
- Heavy cream. Heavy cream is my go-to for a rich, velvety texture, but you can substitute it with half-and-half or coconut cream.
- Milk. Whole milk gives it a creamy consistency, but you can also use oat milk, coconut milk, and almond milk. If you use these lighter kinds of milk and coconut cream, use the LITE ICE CREAM button instead. You can also use Fairlife milk, either 2% or 3%.
- Powdered sugar blends perfectly into the liquid. You can also use granulated sugar, agave nectar, monk fruit sweetener, maple syrup, or honey.
- Instant coffee. I love the flavor instant espresso powder adds. If you want a less intense coffee flavor, use regular instant coffee granules instead. You can also add a bit of cocoa powder for a mocha ice cream flavor.
- Vanilla. Vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste can be used.

How To Make Ninja Creami Coffee Ice Cream
This recipe makes one pint of ice cream - enough for 2 generous servings or 4 small scoops.
Step-By-Step Instructions
- Whisk the base: In a measuring cup or directly in your Ninja Creami pint, whisk together heavy cream, milk, powdered sugar, instant coffee or espresso powder, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and fully combined. You can also blend it in a blender for 15 seconds.

- Freeze: Pour the mixture into the pint container (if not already in one). Place the lid on the pint jar and freeze on a flat surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.

- Assemble: When ready for your ice cream, remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the pint container in the outer bowl. Secure the outer bowl lid so that it clicks into place. Place the bowl assembly onto the base of the Ninja Creami and turn the handle to the right to lock it in place.
- Spin: Push the ICE CREAM button on the control panel. Let the machine run through the full cycle (about 2 minutes). Once the machine is done churning, turn off the Ninja Creami and remove the container from the base.
- Re-Spin: If it looks crumbly (like below), make a small well with a spoon, add one tablespoon of milk, and press the RE-SPIN button to process the mixture again.

The ice cream should look smooth and creamy when done.

- Serve and enjoy: Scoop yourself a bowl (or cone) of this creamy coffee ice cream. Add toppings or enjoy it as-is!

Top Tips
- Do not fill the liquid past the MAX fill line.
- Chill for at least 24 hours before churning.
- Ensure the pint container sits on a level surface in the freezer.
- Add mix-ins after churning.
- Garnish with your favorite toppings like whipped cream, chopped nuts, chocolate-covered coffee beans, hot fudge sauce, or caramel sauce.

Serving Suggestions
- Serve in a cone or bowl, or make an affogato with espresso.
- Add chopped nuts, such as almonds or hazelnuts, or garnish with chocolate shavings.
- Make an ice cream sandwich with your favorite cookies, or layer a sundae with hot fudge, caramel, whipped cream, and nuts.
- Blend with milk for a creamy coffee milkshake. Follow the same instructions as my Ninja Creami chocolate shake.
Variations
- Mocha Creami: Add 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder to the base.
- Vanilla Latte Ice Cream: Use only 1 teaspoon of instant coffee for a milder coffee flavor and bump the vanilla up to 1½ teaspoons.
- Dairy-Free: Use a combination of canned coconut cream and oat milk, and spin using the Lite Ice Cream mode.
- Protein Boost: Swap the milk for Fairlife milk and add 1 scoop of unflavored or vanilla protein powder.
Storage Tips
If you have leftovers, smooth the surface of the ice cream, press a layer of plastic wrap directly onto the surface, and reseal with the lid. Store in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Re-churn before serving to restore that smooth, creamy texture.
Recipe FAQs
It's a compact machine that turns frozen bases into ultra-smooth ice cream, sorbet, or smoothie bowls with a spinning blade and pressure. It's like a blender and an ice cream maker had a baby.
Nope! There's no cream cheese or gums in this recipe, so it churns up smooth with no waxy texture.
Yes. Anything less and the texture won't be right. I've tested it at 20 hours and it just doesn't work.
Absolutely. The Creami can handle it. Just freeze two pints and spin one after the other.
Yes, but smooth it out first and cover it tightly to avoid freezer burn. Re-Spin again before serving if needed.
If your freezer runs really cold (especially chest freezers), the ice cream may come out crumbly. Just add a splash of milk, reattach the lid, and hit the Re-Spin button. It usually only takes one extra cycle to smooth it out.
