If you're looking for an easy and delicious homemade version of Taco Bell's Crunchwrap Supreme, you've come to the right place! This recipe is simple to follow and tastes delicious.

Almost everyone loves a Crunch Wrap Supreme, and it's even better homemade! This recipe is one of our favorite homemade Taco Bell crunch wrap recipe versions. It tastes like the real thing and can be made in minutes for a quick weeknight meal.

The original version uses a crispy tostada shell, but for some reason, I cannot find them anywhere here in Canada. But do you know what tastes even better than tostadas? Doritos chips!

They give you the same crunch as biting into a tostada but have so much more flavor!

Pair these homemade crunch wraps with my homemade Authentic Pico de Gallo, Peach Pico de Gallo, or homemade Homemade Salsa for a meal everyone will love!

    What is the Crunchwrap Supreme?

The Crunchwrap Supreme is a taco-burrito hybrid that Taco Bell created. It is a warm, soft flour tortilla filled with a crunchy tostada shell, seasoned ground beef, and warm nacho cheese sauce with cool reduced-fat sour cream, crisp shredded lettuce, and diced ripe tomatoes, all wrapped up and grilled to perfection for on-the-go eating.

What is the difference between a crunchwrap and a taco?

The Crunchwrap is a Tex-Mex dish made from a flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. A taco is a traditional Mexican dish made from a corn tortilla filled with meat, cheese, and vegetables.

A crunchwrap supreme cut in half and ready to eat.

Why you will love the Taco Bell crunchwrap supreme recipe

    • This crunchwrap recipe uses fresh ingredients, making this version much healthier than the fast-food version.
    • You will be surprised by how easy this recipe is to make.
    • It is also super delicious.
    • It makes a fun dinner everyone will love!
    • You can customize it anyway you like with your favorite toppings.
    • It's a great way to use up any leftovers you may have in the fridge.
    • Last but not least, this dish is perfect for on-the-go eating. So whether you're busy running errands or just want to relax at home, this crunchwrap will hit the spot!

    Ingredient notes and substitutions

This Taco Bell Crunchwrap Recipe is made with basic ingredients found at any grocery store.

Lean ground beef, onion, garlic, and taco seasoning on a wooden table.
Tortilla shells and ingredients for filling for the crunchwrap supreme.
    • Olive oil. You could also use avocado oil.
    • Onion, chopped. I used a yellow onion. You could also use onion powder.
    • Garlic cloves, minced. You could also use garlic powder.
    • Lean ground beef. You can use any other type of ground meat such as venison, chicken, or ground turkey.
    • Taco seasoning. You can use Taco Bell Taco Seasoning Mix packet from the Taco Bell box - use as directed on the back of the package. You can substitute homemade taco seasoning if you'd prefer.
    • Water. This is needed to mix with the taco seasoning.
    • Large flour tortillas. I used homemade flat bread with no yeast. You can easily make large tortillas and small tortillas with this recipe. I like to make extra tortillas for leftovers the next day. You could also use boughten tortillas or a whole wheat tortilla shell.
    • Small soft flour tortillas. You could also use a small plate as a template and cut smaller tortilla shells out of the large tortilla shells.
    • Doritos. I used Doritos in the Nacho Cheese flavor. You could also use crunchy tostada shells, tortilla chips, or hard taco shells.
    • Fresh tomatoes, diced. I like to use organic ripe tomatoes.
    • Crispy lettuce, shredded or chopped. You could also use fresh spinach.
    • Cheddar cheese, shredded. You could also use a Mexican cheese blend. Substitute homemade cheese sauce if you'd prefer.
    • Other toppings (optional): Regular or low-fat sour cream, chopped bell pepper, salsa, pico de gallo, or avocado.

HINT: To really up the flavor factor, and I mean way, way, up, use smoked queso dip instead of cheddar cheese. It is so good!!

How to make homemade Taco Bell crunchwrap recipe

This recipe is simple to follow and can be made in just a few minutes! Be sure to check out the video in the recipe card demonstrating how to prepare the crunch wrap.

First of all, add a bit of olive oil to a large skillet. Then, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat with chopped onion and garlic.

    Ground beef nearly fully cooked.

Drain any excess grease off once no pink is left in the meat and the onion is translucent. Mix the taco seasoning with water, and add the taco seasoning to the cooked ground meat. Stir until combined.

Place a large tortilla on a flat surface. Place about ½ cup of taco meat in the center of the tortilla, then add a layer of cheese on top.

Now for the best part, place Doritos in a circle around the taco meat.

Top with a drizzle of sour cream (if desired) and salsa (if desired).

Next, add lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and diced bell pepper. Finally, add any other optional ingredients you like—such as black beans or avocado.

Lettuce on flour tortilla in the center.
Diced tomatoes on lettuce in center of tortilla shell.

Next, place a small tortilla shell over the filling ingredients in the center of each tortilla, press it down, and fold up the crunchwrap.

Once everything is in place, you will fold the edges of the flour tortilla over everything. To do this, carefully fold the left side over the filling, the top, the top right, bottom, bottom right, and finally the right side. You should now have a hexagon-shaped tortilla with your fillings inside.

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Carefully place the crunchwrap folded side down onto the hot pan surface. Press the crunchwrap down quickly and gently to make sure the tortillas stick together and then cook for 1-2 minutes until browned on one side. Next, flip it over, and cook the other side until it is golden brown, approximately 1-2 minutes.

Repeat with your remaining homemade crunchwraps until you've made as many as you need! Once they're done, slice them in half and serve them up!. Enjoy!

If desired, serve the crunch wrap supreme with a side of salsa or guacamole for dipping. This will add even more flavor and deliciousness to an already fantastic dish!

    Variations

There are many variations you can make to these Taco Bell crunchwraps. For example, you could:

    • Use a different type of tortilla, such as a corn tortilla.
    • For a larger serving, use giant flour tortillas.
    • You could also add in some additional toppings, such as black beans or refried beans.
    • You could add chili powder or cayenne pepper to the taco meat for a spicier version.
    • Serve with hot sauce.
