Crispy on the outside and tender in the middle, these Air Fryer Green Bean Fries are coated in seasoned panko and Parmesan and cooked until golden brown. They're a fun way to turn fresh green beans into a crunchy side dish that pairs perfectly with smoked burgers, steak, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Wash the green beans, trim the ends, and dry them thoroughly with paper towels. This step is important to help the coating crisp up rather than steam.
Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: Bowl 1: Beaten eggsBowl 2: FlourBowl 3: Panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper (mix to combine).
Dip each green bean into the egg, then coat it in flour. Dip it back into the egg, then roll it in the panko mixture, pressing gently to help the coating stick. Place the breaded green beans on parchment paper. I like to coat 6 to 8 at a time to speed things up.
Preheat your air fryer to 390°F.
Arrange the breaded green beans in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each one. Cook in batches if needed. Lightly spray the green beans with oil. Air fry for 4 to 5 minutes, carefully turning them halfway through, until the coating is golden brown and crisp.
Serve immediately while they're hot and crispy.
Notes
Dry the green beans well: Any extra moisture will create steam and soften the coating.
Press the panko on firmly: This helps the breading stay in place.
Don't overcrowd the basket: Air circulation is what makes them crispy.
Best served fresh: These are at their crispiest right out of the air fryer.
Reheat leftovers: Air fry at 375°F for 2 to 3 minutes to crisp them up again.
