2sheetspuff pastry doughthawed, 17.3 oz (US) or 450 g (Canada)
2tablespoonbuttersoftened
½cupbrown sugar
2teaspooncinnamon
¼cuppowdered sugaroptional
Instructions
Step 1: To begin, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a large baking sheet.
Step 2: Melt the ¼ butter in the microwave or a saucepan and set it aside to cool slightly.
Step 3: Unroll a sheet of puff pastry onto parchment paper or a lightly floured surface.
Step 4: Spread 2 tablespoons of softened butter evenly over the pastry sheet. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over top.
Step 5: Carefully place the second sheet of puff pastry over top. Smooth it down with a rolling pin.
Step 6: Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut the pastry into ten 1-inch wide strips.
Step 7: Carefully fold each strip, accordion style, into the shape of a Christmas tree. Thread a wooden skewer from the base of the tree, through all the layers, and out the top. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining pastry strips. You can also make little stars out of the excess pastry by using a small cookie cutter.
Step 8: Brush the trees, including the sides, with melted butter.
Step 9: Bake them in the oven for 12-15 minutes, until puffy and golden brown. If you made stars, they will be cooked in about 8-10 minutes.
Step 10: Remove from the oven. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the trees if desired. Place a star cookie on top of the trees.
