Super Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas

These lightly seasoned Air Fryer Chickpeas are a delicious and healthy snack you can eat on their own or use as a tasty topper on salads. They are vegan and gluten-free and are so quick and easy to make in only 15 minutes. They make a great snack, and are a great addition in school or work lunches.

  • Fine-mesh strainer


  • 1 14 oz can chickpeas drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ tsp seasoning salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder


  • First, heat up the air fryer to 390 degrees F.
  • Open and drain a can of chickpeas and rinse with water. I like to let them drain for a few minutes in a fine mesh strainer to get rid of as much moisture as possible. Transfer chickpeas to a large bowl.
  • Next, add olive oil and seasoning. Mix well. Pour all of the chickpeas into the air fryer basket. Make sure they are in a single layer and are not crowded.
  • Cook chickpeas in the air fryer for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time.
  • Cook until desired crispness and lightly browned. Add more salt and pepper or other seasonings if desired. Transfer to a serving bowl.

  • Don't add any sugar to the seasoning mix, sugar burns in the air fryer.
  • Do not add too much oil as it can actually make them soggy, not crispy.
  • Make sure the chickpeas are in a single layer in your air fryer. If your air fryer is smaller, you may need to do two batches.
  • Shake the basket halfway through cooking so they get ultra-crispy.
  • Air fryers are all different, so you may need to cook your chickpeas for a couple of minutes longer or shorter.
  • Feel free to add your favorite seasonings.
Storage:  These crispy crunchy air fryer chickpeas will stay crispy in the pantry stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
