🍓 Ingredient Notes + Substitutions
Made with simple ingredients, this refreshing beverage embodies the taste of the tropics.

- Frozen strawberries: Frozen strawberries are perfect for making daiquiris because they add sweetness and a bright red color to the drink. Because the strawberries are frozen you do not need to add ice cubes. You can use fresh strawberries instead; however, you will then need to add a handful of ice cubes to thicken it up.
- White rum: White rum is the traditional choice for daiquiris. It has a light flavor and doesn't overpower the other ingredients. I used Bacardi rum, but any white rum will work.
- Fresh lime juice: Lime juice adds a tangy, citrusy flavor to the daiquiri that helps balance out the sweetness of the strawberries. You can use bottled lime juice, but fresh squeezed lime juice will give your daiquiri a brighter, more vibrant flavor.
- Simple syrup: I made homemade simple syrup by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over medium heat. It adds sweetness to the cocktail without the gritty texture that you might get with granulated sugar. If you prefer, you can substitute with honey, agave nectar, or any other sweetener of your choice.
- Optional garnishes: Fresh strawberries and lime wedges are a classic garnish for a strawberry daiquiri. They add a pop of color and make your drink look extra fancy. If you're feeling adventurous, you can also try adding drink umbrellas.

💭 Expert Tips
- Use frozen strawberries: Using frozen strawberries will help give your frozen daiquiri a smooth, slushy texture without the need for ice. Make sure to use unsweetened frozen strawberries so that you can adjust the sweetness level of the cocktail to your liking.
- Adjust sweetness to taste: The amount of simple syrup needed will depend on the ripeness and sweetness of your strawberries. Taste the mixture after blending and add more simple syrup if needed.
- Use fresh lime juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice is best for this cocktail as it has a brighter and fresher flavor than bottled lime juice. Roll the lime on the counter before cutting it in half - this will help you get the most juice out as possible.
- Chill glasses before serving: For optimal enjoyment, chill your glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before serving. This will keep your cocktail colder for longer.
- Garnish with fresh fruit: Add a fresh strawberry or lime wedge to the rim of the glass for an extra pop of color and flavor. You can even add a sprig of mint!
🍹 Equipment
- High-powered blender. A powerful motor and sharp blade blender will blend the ingredients smoothly and evenly, creating a perfectly slushy texture. I have a Ninja blender with 3 blades, which works great for everything from daiquiris to Frozen Margaritas to smoothies.
- Glasses: When I serve daiquiris, I like to use a margarita glass. This classic glassware brings an elegant touch that complements the delicious summer drink. You can also use hurricane glasses or your favorite cocktail glasses. Chilling the glass beforehand will make it frosty and inviting and keep the drink cold longer.
🧾 Recipe FAQs
Yes, you can use any kind of light rum you prefer in the daiquiri.
It's best to serve the daiquiri immediately after making it. If you need to make it ahead of time, blend without ice and refrigerate. Add ice and blend again just before serving.
While a blender is the easiest way to make a daiquiri, you can also use a food processor. Alternatively, you can make a shaken daiquiri by muddling the strawberries with a fork (defrost them first or use fresh strawberries) and mixing all ingredients together in a shaker or jar.
For a non-alcoholic drink, simply omit the white rum and replace it with real fruit juice of your choice. You can still enjoy the refreshing and fruity taste while staying alcohol-free.
